Gretio App Privacy Policy
Last updated November 1, 2026
This policy covers the Gretio app for iOS and Android, made by Surreal Development LLC (“we”, “us”). Questions and requests: gretioapp.com/contact. Our website has its own policy.
1. Vehicle Data Stays on Your Device
VINs, scan results, trouble codes, recordings, and your dashboards are stored on your device. We don’t receive them. The exception is if you send us app logs for support, which can include VINs and adapter names.
2. What We Collect
Account. If you continue as a guest, the app creates an anonymous account with only an account identifier. It isn’t linked to your name or email, and it can’t be recovered if the app is removed or the device is lost. If you sign in: your email, display name, and account identifier from Apple, Google, or email sign-in. Your password stays with that provider.
Purchases. Handled by the App Store or Google Play; we never see payment details. RevenueCat manages subscriptions for us and receives your account identifier and purchase history.
Crash reports. When the app crashes or hits an error, we receive technical details about the app, device, and what happened, linked to your account identifier if you’re signed in. Network addresses, VINs, and device names are removed first.
Usage data. Which features are used, device and app information, your IP address, and an approximate location (country or region) derived from it.
Gretio shows no ads, uses no advertising identifiers, and doesn’t request your location. Bluetooth and nearby-device access is used only to reach your vehicle adapter.
3. How We Use It
To provide your account and purchases; to find and fix problems and keep the service secure; to understand which features are used so we can improve them; and to meet legal obligations. Under GDPR these rest on contract, legitimate interest, and legal obligation respectively. You don’t have to sign in: a guest account works too, including for purchases, but only signing in lets you recover your account and purchases on a new device.
4. Who We Share It With
Only service providers working for us: Google Firebase (sign-in, crash reports, usage data), Apple and Google (sign-in, purchases), and RevenueCat (subscriptions). We may also disclose data when the law requires it, to protect our users or our rights, or to a successor if the business is sold, who would be bound by this policy. We don’t sell personal data or share it for targeted advertising.
We and our providers process data in the United States. Transfers from the EEA, UK, or Switzerland rely on safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
5. Retention and Deletion
- Account and purchase records: while your account exists. Deleting your account in the app removes it and the data stored with it on our servers; purchase records may remain with the app stores and RevenueCat as long as billing and law require.
- Crash reports: up to 90 days. Usage data tied to you: up to 2 months.
We use access controls, encryption in transit, and our providers’ security measures. No system is completely secure.
6. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you can access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal data, object to or restrict its use, or withdraw consent. If you signed in, you can sign out or delete your account in the app; for anything else use the contact form at gretioapp.com/contact. In the EEA, UK, or Switzerland you can also complain to your data protection authority.
7. Children
Gretio isn’t for children, and we don’t knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you think a child has given us data, contact us and we’ll delete it.
8. Changes
We’ll update the date above when this policy changes and tell you in the app about significant ones.
